Do I need to pay my deductible?
The state of Colorado, through Senate Bill 38 states the following:
“Prohibits a roofing contractor from paying, waiving or rebating an insurance deductible for a property owner. (Nor may a contractor advertise or promise to waive, pay or rebate same.)”
Though this may seem an inconvenience; this bill was designed to protect the homeowner. Insurance companies tend to not pay more for a project, than a project actually costs. That being said, contractors discounting a job up to a past the cost of the deductible will be cutting corners elsewhere. Violation of this bill is at best, a misdemeanor, at worst, a felony for both the property owner as well as the contractor.
Does Safeguard carry a license and proper insurance?
Safeguard Solutions does, and will always carry all necessary licensing and insurance limits per the state of Colorado. Be on the lookout for contractors who do not, and never try and cut corners by hiring an unlicensed or underinsured contractor. Always ask for proof of both license, and insurance.
Will Safeguard obtain permits prior to the project?

Does Safeguard follow building codes and should that matter when looking for a Contractor?
YES. You are protecting yourself and your investment. Short cuts may seem expedient and harmless on occasion, but exercise extreme caution before you decide to step outside of the lines, and do not trust a contractor who appears interested in cutting corners. Remember that building codes are constantly changing and only a reliable contractor will stay up to date on these changes and implement all code adjustments as quickly as possible.
